Michael Smolak Donates Again! |
Michael Smolak of North Andover donates to NAFE a second time in as many years. Building on the success from the previous year, Smolak Farms and NAFE held a fund raising drive where a donation for every Christmas tree sold would be given the North Andover. | Pictured here is Michael presenting Sue with the donation from that drive. Notice the picture on the right where a local artist captures Michael's grandfather working on the same farm many years ago. North Andover is fortunate and greatful for the generousity he and his farm have given.

Second Annual Walk for Kids |
|
The North Andover Foundation for Education (NAFE) raised over $4,000 during the 2nd annual Walk for Kids, held September 29th at the Franklin Elementary School. The event was billed as both a fund raiser for the North Andover Public Schools and a way to increase awareness of NAFE and its mission. “This was really a fun event,” said NAFE board member, Michael Reed. “With beautiful weather and plenty of food and entertainment, it was a great way to spend some time with friends and family and raise money for a good cause.” Walkers raised money through pledges and prizes were awarded to those participants who walked the most laps around the school. The first place winner took home an Apple iPod for largest sponsorship. Prizes were also awarded to winners in several different age categories. In addition to the walk itself, participants enjoyed music by the band The Time Flies as well as ice cream donated by the Main Line Creamery in Andover, yogurt donated by Stoneyfield Farms and a variety of treats donated by volunteers for a bake sale. Money raised during the event will go toward supporting the North Andover Public Schools. NAFE’s mission is to generate private and corporate donations to supplement the public school budget. NAFE’s aim is to provide funding to promote excellence and innovation in our public schools. NAFE is currently in the process of establishing their goal for the 2007-2008 school year and will be working to institute a measurable, targeted objective. This objective will be the result of a collaborative effort between NAFE, Superintendent of Schools, Dr. James Marini, and the school principals. NAFE is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 2006, committed to the preservation and enhancement of the education in North Andover public schools. |

Is it Christmas In June? No, unfortunately not for the kid in all of us. However N.A.F.E. would like to say a special THANK YOU to Smolak Farms, who donated $5 for every tag and cut tree purchased over the 2006 Christmas season. | Don't worry. Your memories of your Christmas trees live on, as do the young trees planted in their places.

Georgetown Savings Bank makes a PEACH of a donation |
|
The North Andover Foundation for Education recently accepted the first donation from Georgetown Savings Bank from the partnership known as PEACH(partnership for educational assistance and community help). The Foundation is a young independent 501(c) 3 nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing public education in North Andover. Georgetown Savings Bank approached the organization last fall with the idea of giving back to the community in the form of the PEACH program. A true example of how a local business can positively impact the community, when individuals and businesses participate in the PEACH program and open a checking account at Georgetown Savings Bank, a $100.00 donation is made to the Foundation. | Board members Sue Donato and Michael Reed are shown here accepting the donation from Rosalie Schniederjans, assistant vice president of Georgetown Savings Bank.
